Melissa Jasperson

Hello! I am a full-time figure skating coach. I am also the owner and director of Premier Skating Academy and the Skating Director for Great River Figure Skating Club. I am a Senior Double Gold Medalist in figure skating with my gold medals in Freeskate and Moves in the Field (now Skating Skills).

I have my BS in Psychology and my minor in Athletic Coaching from the UW-River Falls. I have been coaching figure skating for over twenty years in the Twin Cities area. I have trained many athletes from their first steps on the ice through gold medal tests, State, Regional and Sectional titles, and I’ve had skaters compete at US Figure Skating National Championships and an international competition. I work continually to improve my education in skating and have mentored and been educated in skating by several international and Olympic level coaches. I also have extensive experience in skating programming, and I have my certificate in Learn to Skate programming through NARCE, and I am also Safesport Certified, First Aid & CPR certified, a US Figure Skating Coaching member and a member of the Professional Skaters Association.

I truly love what I do, and I enjoy watching the development process in skaters. The transformation of a beginner level athlete through the high levels of skating is one of the most motivating and exciting aspects of my career, and I hope everyone finds their inspiration and joy while on the ice. Skating is a wonderful journey of self-discovery and learning that also develops an athlete’s character, and I work hard to instill values and mentalities that help skaters become successful in all areas of their lives and for their future selves.
